One Saturday

I was in the bank early this afternoon, got there about 2:30PM and there were lots of people in line. Mga bagong sweldo at nagdedeposit sa savings account. As my eyes scanned the room, I saw this cute little girl in pink walking around...and then she saw THE DOOR. I knew that that door led to where the bank girls get all the money and cards and files, little girl didn't. But she seemed excited to open the door and go straight inside...without knowing what to expect. Pano kung may monster o pulis o mumu?

Wouldn't it be great if we learn how to open doors with the same attitude?

The Bible says, we should have a child-like faith. Jesus calls us to ask, expect, be pure and joyful like a child. He wants us to come to Him with such great anticipation, just like how a little kid goes after candies or a baby after milk. A baby's intention is always at its purest - her reason for crying could only mean two things: hunger or discomfort (brought by dirty nappies or sick stomach, etc); her reason for smiling/laughing is pure joy.

He wants us to ASK!!! We Filipinos grew up with this mental stronghold that we need to work hard first and earn God's blessings. But Jesus said ASK AND IT SHALL BE GIVEN UNTO YOU. It's true, I can't help God - God is God who made everything. The Bible calls it grace.

I think it's time I ask myself: What's behind my relationships? What's the real reason for spending more than 40 hours a week in the office? Why do I feel good everytime I shop? Why do I smile at people? Why do I go to church every Sunday? Why am I writing this entry?

===================================

For me, the word 'selfish' is big. When this word is tagged on someone, it takes on a whole new meaning.

But you know what, I realized that the word LOVE is even bigger. Put LOVE in any kind of situation or experience and it becomes better, greater and more meaningful. = )
