Leadership...Bow.

The moment you were born, the first leaders that you recognized in your life are your parents. You depended on them for milk, changing your nappies and carrying you to sleep. Come schooltime, you are introduced to a new way of leadership. Your grade depends on how well you do in your subjects and how obedient you are to the school rules and regulations. Do good in school and there's a big chance you'll tread a good career after it.

*graduation march* Time for resume printing and job search. Once you accepted an offer from a company that you choose to work in, you have subjected yourself to the policies stated in the contract and being under a manager comes with it.

"You will be directly reporting to so and so"

When I read that line in my contract, I imagined someone who will listen to me when I have issues at work, someone I can discuss my goals with, someone who will at least help me in learning the new process. In short, I had expectations.

This is very different from the leadership of my parents or my teachers over my life. I had no expectations from my parents when I was born. I learned how to appreciate them the time I came out of the womb! As for my teachers, yes I did have expectations, that she be good, kind and friendly. Simple.

What happens when expectations are not met?

I read in a book that my boss is God's representative in the company. If my manager is God's representative, then she deserves my respect. If she assigns a project, I will do it with joy. I will give to her cheerfully. (I need to work on these!) I admit these are not easy for me to do. All of us come across individuals that we can't consider our favorites.

BUT. Good person or not, we were all created the same way. And all of us are equally beautiful in God's eyes. I was placed under a leader, so I must be obedient and respectful.
Keep that in mind, Ode!
